We are currently looking for the following staff positions:

Guest Liaison
Department: Guest Relations

If you love a challenge and are great at problem solving, then this is the position for you!  Anime USA Guest Relations is looking for some reliable staff to assist with our convention guests.  The Domestic Guest Liaison position coordinates between the guests of the convention and the convention staff.  Guest Liaisons need to have excellent problem solving skills and be able to make quick decisions.  It is essential that they have excellent customer service skills and be able to handle situations diplomatically.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate between convention guests and convention staff.
  • Ensure that guests arrive to their scheduled events on time.
  • Assist the guests and make sure they do not go over any time constraints for events.
  • Assist with any needed supplies.
  • Assist with autograph sessions (providing sharpies, enforcing rules, take any allowed photos, etc.).
  • Take care of any food or water needs.
  • Coordinate any travel needs with the Guest Drivers.
  • Solve any issues that may arise.


Green Room Staff
Department: Guest Relations

Do you enjoy hospitality and making people comfortable?  Anime USA Guest Relations is looking for some reliable staff to provide hospitality services to our convention guests.  Green Room Staff provide assistance to guests of the convention and to Guest Services staff during the convention.  Green Room Staff need to have excellent problem solving skills and be able to act professionally.  It is essential that they have excellent customer service skills and be able to handle situations diplomatically.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Green Room Coordinator with any requested tasks.
  • Provide hospitality services which can include food preparation, food presentation, and beverage services.
  • Assist guests of the convention while they are in the Green Room.
  • Assist the Assistant Director/Dispatch Coordinator with any requested tasks.
  • May need to provide assistance to Guest Liaisons and act as a runner between Coordinators and other Guest Services staff.


Guest Drivers
Department: Guest Relations

Do you enjoy driving and making sure people get from point A to point B?  Anime USA Guest Relations is looking for some reliable drivers to provide transportation services to our convention guests.  Guest Drivers are responsible for the transportation needs before, during, and after the convention, which means you will need to be available Thursday through the following Monday of the convention.  Vehicles will be provided by the convention for all transportation needs.   Guest Drivers must be at least 25 years of age with a good driving record.  It is preferable that any drivers be from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and that they are familiar with reading maps and utilizing GPS devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for guests of the convention before, during, and after the convention (Thursday through Monday).
  • Adhere to any and all driving rules and regulations in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, including hands free cell phone usage during vehicle operation.
  • Be comfortable driving higher occupancy vehicles (vans).
  • It is preferable that any drivers be from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and that they are familiar with reading maps and utilizing GPS devices.


Guest Security
Department: Guest Relations

If you love working with people and are great at problem solving, then this is the position for you!  Anime USA Guest Relations is looking for some reliable staff to assist with our convention guests.  The Guest Security position ensures the safety of guests of the convention and coordinates with both Guest Relations staff and Convention Safety staff. Guest Security need to have excellent problem solving skills and be able to make quick decisions.  It is essential that they have excellent customer service skills and be able to handle situations diplomatically. Ideal candidates must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and be flexible with their schedule and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate between convention guests, Guest Relations staff, and Convention Safety staff.
  • Ensure the safety of all guests of the convention.
  • If needed, escort guests throughout the hotel and convention areas.
  • Provide line control for guest autograph lines and events.
  • Respond to attendee concerns in a respectful manner and report any problems to Convention Safety.


Assistant Webmaster
Department: Marketing & Public Relations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the website content using WordPress. Collect content from the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
  • Post official Anime USA announcements supplied by the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
  • Update the design and user interface of the website each year according to the theme of the year.
  • Work with the publications team to create graphics for the website.
  • Maintain the website’s server and domain name. Ensure that the website does not go down. If the website goes down, work with the host provider to restore it.
  • Design the Tumblr blog.


Advertising Coordinator
Department: Marketing & Public Relations

Are you an aspiring marketing or promotions professional with an interest in advertising? We’re seeking a Coordinator to help us with advertising the Anime USA convention and other events. The Coordinator will work closely with the Treasurer and the team’s Director to run advertising campaigns. Please note that all Anime USA staff roles, including this one, are volunteer roles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Anime USA’s Google Adwords account and Adwords campaigns. Work with the marketing team to ensure that landing pages are populated for advertisement campaigns.
  • Collect pricing for advertisement packages.
  • Implement advertising portions of integrated marketing communications strategies; purchase ad spaces in traditional and online mediums, with approval from the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
  • Work with the publications team to ensure that ads are created and delivered in a timely manner.


Schedule Distribution Coordinator (2016-2017)
Department: Marketing & Public Relations

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy the application/account used to distribute event schedules and information
  • Serve as a liaison between the Marketing & Public Relations Department and other departments, such as Programming, Exhibits, and Registration to collect up-to-date information for distribution.
  • Test the functionality of any mobile application used to distribute event schedules; ensure that it loads properly on Android, iPhone, and Windows operating systems.
  • Maintain the mobile application/account and ensure schedule updates are distributed in a timely fashion any Anime USA event, such as the annual Anime USA convention.

 


Volunteer Coordinator
Department: Operations

Are you organized, detailed-oriented, and have experience coordinating people? We’re seeking a new Volunteer Coordinator! The Volunteer Coordinator helps us by recruiting and dispatching temporary volunteers for the Anime USA convention. This role has both pre-convention and at-convention responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Prior to the convention, the Coordinator will be the main point of contact for prospective volunteers and maintain the volunteer sign-up list.
  • Closer to con, the Coordinator will communicate with other Departments to determine key times that these volunteers would be needed by those Departments.
  • During the Anime USA convention, the Coordinator will handle volunteer sign-in. The Coordinator will dispatch volunteers and assign tasks to volunteers, based on the information collected from other Departments before the con.


Convention Operations Staff
Department: Operations

We’re seeking (2) Convention Operations Staff members. This role reports to the Convention Operations Coordinator.  Convention Operations Staff will work on the back-end of the Anime USA convention and other Anime USA events by getting answers to staff and attendee questions, coordinating requests with the hotel staff, and providing general help around the convention and other Anime USA events, as needed.


Education and Special Events Coordinator
Department: Programming

Responsibilities

  •  Assist in overseeing the educational children’s track by providing support to the staff lead in selection of activities, staff recruitment, and provides in person coverage for the track.
  • Researches and recruits educational presenters to provide content for the convention outside of contracted Guest educational slots.
  • Provides support to the Programming director in researching charities, facilitate in finding donations for, and assisting running the Charity auction.
  • Directly works to plan and facilitate the opening and closing ceremonies for the convention.
